Our trip to Italy was such an amazing time. It was life changing and meant so much to us that we decided to head back their for our own wedding. I would lie to you if I said it was perfect, we aren’t season travelers yet so the trip was a big learning curve. We had a week and I wanted to see all the sights and cram in as much as possible. We started in Rome, then to Florence, Tuscany, Cinque Terre and ended back in Rome in seven days. Yup we were pushing it with our time and I didn’t think Jet Lag would knock us out so bad but it did! I’m so glad that we were able to see all these beautiful spots but traveling in a new country with limited time made us feel like we were on The Amazing Race. After this trip we have concluded we would be awful at that show together! More time is needed to allow for a less stressful time or just choosing one or two spots to stay at.
The trip ended beautifully with all our hiccups with Zach Proposing to me! His plan was for the night before but it ended up being the only cloudy day our whole trip so he decided to wait. He knew one of the most important thing I wanted was a picture of it happening. So while still making it intimate, I was running down from a staircase for a photo of us, he got down and asked me! The photo is in mid proposal and perfect! You can see my hand on him since I thought he might be falling down. I clearly had no clue what was going on.
While we have been dating for six years we have talked about proposals before. There actually might have been another proposal that was in the making a year earlier! Zach told me after the fact but he had planned on it in Yosemite, in 2016. We had planned a camping trip and we had everything but our actual camping site. Little did we know after arriving at 10 PM that finding a spot to camp in or around Yosemite was almost impossible! We drove around the valley and then up and around for hours, hitting up every camp site we could see until finding one that might work. Then we tried to pitch our tent in the dark at 1 AM and the site was completely concrete. After laughing at our misfortune we decided to head all the way back home on another four hour drive. I was completely unaware that the whole time he was planning to propose! So that didn’t work out and with wedding season things got busy and on my last wedding of the year, I got severe poison oak. Zach was going to plan a weekend getaway to try again but I was about bed ridden. Again, ruining his plans. With that time going by I ended up receiving my grandma’s ring when she passed. I loved the vintage and unique look of it and knew I wanted one like that. With me changing my mind of what I wanted (not knowing Zach already had one) made a comment to him I have been thinking of different ring options. He then returned the ring right away! He later told me the story and I couldn’t believe it! I had no clue but fate has a weird way of working. Right after that happened we ended up buying a house with the money and then a year later I got the best surprise ever!
If you read this far, you’re pretty awesome but now you can check out my favorite images from the trip below! I can’t wait to head back there for our wedding in October!
